Mutual Trust Careers– Privacy Statement
Mutual Trust understands that your privacy is very important to you and you have a right to control your Personal Information. This Privacy Statement explains how Mutual Trust will deal with your Personal Information when you apply for a Job through the Mutual Trust Careers Site (Site) or contact us in connection with potential employment opportunities with Mutual Trust.

- What is Personal Information?
1.1. Personal Information is any information that can be used to personally identify you. - Types of Personal Information we collect
2.1 The Personal Information which we collect may include:
(a) Name
(b) Mailing or street address
(c) Email address
(d) Telephone number
(e) Age and / or date of birth
(f) Profession, occupation and / or job title
(g) Previous career and employment history
(h) Professional qualifications and memberships
(i) Educational history and achievements
(j) Information relating to you that you provide to us, whether personally, in writing, or through any medium, (including telephone, digital or electronic means, or directly or indirectly through the Site or through use of Mutual Trust websites), or information which you authorise another person to provide to us
(k) Other information we consider necessary to your situation and employment aspirations, and which you supply, make available to us or authorise us to obtain.
2.2 The information which we obtain through your access to the Site or use of Mutual Trust websites may include:
(a) the date and time of your visit
(b) the address of a referring site
(c) the type of browser you are using
(d) your top level domain name (for example, .com; .gov; .au; .uk etc)
(e) your server’s IP address (that is, a number that is unique to the machine through which you are connected to the internet, usually one of your service provider’s machines)
(f) the address of the pages accessed, and any documents downloaded
- How does Mutual Trust collect or obtain your Personal Information?
3.1 We collect your Personal Information:
(a) directly from you, including by direct personal interface, by telephone, email, and any other digital or electronic medium
(b) from people or sources you have authorised us to obtain it from (for example, personal referees or previous employers whom you have authorised us to contact or through searches (such as criminal history or bankruptcy searches) which you have authorised us to undertake)
(c) from your use of Mutual Trust websites, including the Site
(d) from publicly available information, such as data bases maintained by regulatory bodies such as the Australian Securities and Investments Commission
(e) from publicly available social media and public data.
- How does Mutual Trust use your Personal Information?
4.1 Where you contact Mutual Trust in relation to potential employment opportunities, including accessing the Site, Mutual Trust collects, stores and uses your Personal Information to:
(a) Support the operation of a merit-based process for selecting candidates for employment opportunities with Mutual Trust
(b) Ensure that we know who we are dealing with.
4.2 To assist us in considering you in connection with potential employment opportunities, we may disclose your Personal Information to the following persons or organisations:
(a) Mutual Trust’s employees, contractors and service providers, and related bodies corporate, where those persons or entities are relevant in connection with potential employment opportunities
(b) Government or regulatory bodies as required or authorised by law
(c) Any other person or organisation, with your express consent and authorisation.
4.3 When you visit the Site or any Mutual Trust website, our server logs information which is provided by your browser. Mutual Trust may use this information to create summary statistics and consider information about overall use of our websites, including the Site. This information helps us to understand the number of visitors accessing our websites and what information is most and least used. It helps us to consider technical design specifications and ways to make our websites and the information provided more useful to visitors.
- Safety and Security of your Personal Information
5.1 Mutual Trust regards the safety and security of Personal Information as very important and takes reasonable steps to protect that information from misuse interference and loss, and from unauthorised access, modification and disclosure. Security measures include:
(a) encryption of information stored electronically
(b) ongoing monitoring and testing of security measures
(c) confidentiality obligations on employees, contractors and external recipients of information
(d) limiting access to information to persons who require it for an appropriate purpose
5.2 When you use our website, you should be aware that no data transmission over the Internet can be guaranteed as totally secure. While Mutual Trust takes reasonable measures to protect such information, we do not warrant the security of any information which you transmit over the Internet, and you do so at your own risk.
5.3 Mutual Trust will not attempt to identify users or their browsing activities, unless disclosure is required by law or due to a mandatory requirement of an applicable Court, government agency or regulatory authority.
5.4 Mutual Trust takes reasonable steps to ensure that the Personal Information that we collect, use or disclose is accurate, complete and up-to-date. However, in doing so, we rely on the information which you supply or make available to us. If at any time you believe that information which we hold is not accurate, complete and up-to-date, please contact us immediately to update your information.
- Overseas disclosure
6.1 Mutual Trust may disclose Personal Information to overseas recipients for administrative or business management purposes. Overseas recipients are likely to be located in the United Kingdom, New Zealand, Belgium, Hong Kong, South Africa and the United States of America.
We have also entered into agreements with one or more IT service providers operating outside Australia and some of your personal information, being basic contact details, may be subject to cross-border disclosure between Australia, Canada and the USA.
6.2 Before disclosing any Personal Information to an overseas recipient, Mutual Trust takes reasonable steps to ensure that the overseas recipient complies with the Australian Privacy Principles or is bound by a substantially similar privacy scheme, unless you consent to the overseas disclosure, or it is otherwise authorised by law.
- Access to and review of your Personal Information
7.1 Please contact the Mutual Trust Privacy Officer if at any time you would like:
(a) to access or correct any Personal Information which Mutual Trust holds about you
(b) more information about the Personal Information which Mutual Trust holds about you
(c) more information about Mutual Trust’s security policies and practices.
7.2 Mutual Trust will grant access to your Personal Information to the extent required or authorised by the Privacy Act or other law. Before granting access to or accepting an instruction to correct your Personal Information, we will need to verify your identity. A reasonable administration charge may apply.
7.3 Please be aware that some information cannot be amended or deleted for legal reasons. If we deny a request to update or correct your Personal Information, we will tell of the reason for doing so and provide details of complaint mechanisms. Mutual Trust will endeavour to respond to your request to access or correct your Personal Information within 30 days of your request.
- Your obligations in relation to your Personal Information
8.1 It is your responsibility to ensure that all Personal Information which you provide to Mutual Trust is accurate, complete and up-to-date and to advise Mutual Trust of any relevant changes. You acknowledge that Mutual Trust is entitled to rely on the information which you provide, and, although it may seek to verify that information, it has no obligation to do so.
8.2 You do not have to provide any Personal Information you do not wish to disclose, however failure to provide information which is relevant to Mutual Trust’s consideration of you as a Candidate may affect the potential success of your Application.
- Notifiable Data Breaches
9.1 Since 22 February 2018, a notifiable data breach (NDB) scheme has applied in Australia, requiring eligible data breaches which occurred after that date to be notified to individuals and to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner. An NDB is a data breach that is likely to result in serious harm to any individual to whom the information relates, and occurs when Personal Information is lost or subjected to unauthorised use or disclosure. - Changes to this Privacy Statement
11.1 Mutual Trust may amend this Privacy Statement from time to time. Changes will be posted on Mutual Trust’s website and will apply from the date on which they are posted, or other dated specified in the notice. It is your responsibility to check the website from time to time to determine whether there have been any changes. - Defined terms and meaning
12.1Â Mutual Trust or Wemeans Mutual Trust Pty Ltd, ACN 004 285 330 and any Associate or Related Body Corporate of Mutual Trust Pty Ltd, as those terms are defined in the Corporations Act 2001, Commonwealth.
12.2 Privacy Act means the Privacy Act 1988, Commonwealth, and Australian Privacy Principles has the meaning given in that Act.
12.3 You and your mean any person who provides, or authorises provision of, or whose Personal Information is held by, Mutual Trust from time to time.
12.4 Words and phrases that are used in the Terms and Conditions for the Mutual Trust Careers Site have the same meaning in this Privacy Statement (unless otherwise stated, or the context otherwise requires).
